Import and Export¶
Import Impulse Response¶
IRIS can import existing first order B-format and mono impulse responses in *.wav file format. It currently supports:
- 16, 24 or 32 bit PCM, or IEEE 32 bit float format
- Standard wave files in mono, 4-channel, or 4x mono files
- 4-channel WAVE-EX files with Ambisonics GUID
- 44100 or 48000 Hz sample rates
Steps¶
-
Create or open a project
-
Select Measurement menu, Import, and then Import Impulse Response
-
Locate the *.wav file
Note
If you select 4 mono files, IRIS will prompt you to order the channels correctly.
-
IRIS will add the measurement to the project
Export Room Acoustic Parameters¶
There are two ways to export room acoustic parameters (from the PARAMETERS page) for measurements in a project.
-
Open the PARAMETERS page for one measurement and select COPY VALUES. This can be pasted into spreadsheet software.
-
Export parameters for all measurements in the project in XLSX format by selecting Export all Measurement Parameters in the Project menu.
Tip
You may export parameters in either single octave band or 1/3 octave band values, even though IRIS displays single octave band values on screen.
Export Impulse Response¶
You may export an impulse response by opening a recorded measurement and selecting Measurement menu, Export, then either:
-
Export B-format Impulse Response
-
Export Mono Impulse Response
An impulse response can be exported in a normalised or unnormalised format. Unnormalised is necessary if you wish to compare the levels of different measurements from the same project.

Note
All exported wave files are standard wave files in IEEE 32 bit float format.
Note
The impulse response wave files saved in an IRIS project on disk (ir.wav) are stored in a normalised form. You can find the normalisation factor by inspecting the corresponding measurement.xml file.
Export IRIS Plot Image¶
To export an IRIS plot image as a PNG file, first make sure that IRIS 3D PLOT page is visible, then select Measurement menu, Export, and Export IRIS Plot Image.

Tip
For overlaying IRIS plots on drawings of a room, we recommend:
-
Checking Align direct sound xy to x-axis in the IRIS plot settings, and
-
Checking Hide Axes in the export image window.
This simplifies overlaying and orientating IRIS plots on drawings.
Note
The IRIS plot image export depends on the size of the IRIS 3D PLOT view. We recommend keeping the IRIS program window the same size while exporting multiple IRIS plots from the same project in order for them to have consistent dimensions.
Export IRIS Plot Data¶
The IRIS plot data can be exported in various text formats:
-
Generic text file (tab separated values)
Steps¶
-
Configure the IRIS plot with the desired settings
-
Select Measurement menu, Export, then Export IRIS Plot Data
-
In the save window, specify which type of format you would like to export the IRIS plot data in:
